Creative Pumpkin Decorating Ideas

Fall and pumpkins go hand-in-hand, and carving spooky faces into pumpkins is a beloved Halloween tradition. If you're looking to spice up your pumpkin decorating this year, check out these fun and creative ideas!

Decoupage Pumpkins

For a super fun and easy alternative to carving, break out the Mod Podge and decoupage your pumpkins in decorative paper or fabric. There are limitless patterns and designs to choose from, so you can truly personalize your creations. You can use fake pumpkins from the craft store for this project, too, so you can enjoy the finished product for years to come! Decoupage pumpkins also make great fall decor pieces for your home or office. See the instructions here.

Glitter Pumpkins

Make your pumpkin sparkle with some glitter! This is another easy alternative to carving, and can be done with real or craft pumpkins. All you need is spray adhesive and glitter in the color (or colors!) of your choice to make this creation a reality. We can't guarantee you won't be finding glitter everywhere after you're done, though! Get the full instructions here.

Felt Woodland Creature Pumpkins

These adorable little critters are the perfect pumpkin decorating idea for fall! They're also a great craft for kids. You'll need felt, craft paint, cardstock paper, hot glue, a sharpie and scissors to bring these little guys to life. Choose from a fox, raccoon or owl--or create your own animal! Read the instructions here.

Drill-Hole Pumpkins

Try something different this year by carving your pumpkins with an electric drill! It's a quick way to get a sophisticated design, and there are tons of patterns online to help guide you. Just be extra careful if you have kids around! Get instructions here.

Marbled Pumpkins

To achieve this cool, marbled look, you'll need a white pumpkin (or a white-painted pumpkin) and a LOT of nail polish. Get some cheap at the dollar store, or a set with different colors. Once you have your polish, you'll pour it in layers into a bowl of water, then dip your pumpkins in the bowl to transfer the polish. This is a perfect craft for crafty adults and older kids! Have fun pumpkin-crafting!
